Sustainability, that was the question with the Pittsburgh Steelers despite their foreign two start.

Was this a model they could keep winning with?

Sunday's answer, at least, was a resounding no. Despite three defensive takeaways,

winning the turnover battle by essentially plus two to

discounting the Hail Mary on the game's final play, and a defense who got stops for

most of the game, Pittsburgh lost this one to Jacksonville pretty handedly.

It turns out scoring 10 points is not enough to beat the NFL's good teams.

That's been the Steelers concern.

Their model of keep the score down, when late only works to a certain point.

It sets a high floor for the team. They'll win some they probably shouldn't have as we've seen this year.

But pitch yourselves against a quality team like Jacksonville and it's far less likely to be pulled off.

That'll be the same for any potential playoff matchup. Had the season ended prior to week 8

it would have been a Pittsburgh Jacksonville Wild Card showdown.

Which just brings us back to what we already know.

This offense this model cannot sustain.

Pittsburgh can still win in the regular season under those circumstances they did come into the game 4 and 2 after all, but how far can it take them?

Another wild card exit that looks to be the most likely scenario if this team reaches the playoffs far from a guarantee

as the AFC North really tightens up.

So how does this offense produce and improve?

That's the million dollar question. I wish I had an answer.
