There are few things in the NFL media landscape that I despise more than hypothetical trades, whether it's in the off season or in the weeks

and days leading up to the trade deadline every season. They are nonsensical. They aren't realistic and they rarely fit actual team needs.

They're generally just so absurd it's not worth spending much time on. Yet with the Steelers sitting at

four and two on the season after a big win on the road against the Los Angeles

Rams in week seven, the hypothetical trades surrounding the black and gold are starting to run a bit rampant.

In recent days places like Bleacher Report, Sports Illustrated, and even CBS Sports have created deals that they'd like

this dealers to make. Those trades are for names such as veteran wide receiver, De André Hopkins,

Cornerback Patrick Surtan II and even safety Justin Simmons.

The names certainly sound great in all, but the hypothetical trade packages are just beyond ridiculous.

A third round pick and a hypothetical deal for the all-pro safety in Simmons, a second round pick for a

young star corner in Surtan, a late round pick for Hopkins? What exactly are these media outlets doing? The Steelers

could very well find themselves exploring the trade market in the days ahead of the October 31st trade

deadline. As his well known, GM Omar Khan is aggressive. He's made seven trades since taking over

his GM in May of 2022.

As an organization, the Steelers have made trades ahead of three straight deadlines,

but they've either been trading away disgruntled players for draft picks, like Melvin Ingram to the Chiefs and Chase Claypool to the Bears, or they've made a move for cheap experienced depth, that being Avery Williamson from the jets.

But the thing is, the Steelers are just now starting to get healthy.

They have guys settling into their roles on both sides of the football and

overall they're starting to feel confident in the style of play they are aiming for.

Chances are Khan won't rock the boat with a big move at the deadline.
