If the decisions that the Pittsburgh Steelers made in the 2023 NFL draft weren't enough to signal what the team was looking for moving forward at the

cornerback position.

The recent decision to poach Darius Rush off of the practice squad of the Kansas City

Chiefs should be the final example needed.

The Steelers have made it clear they want big physical cornerbacks defensively in an effort

to get back to what made them so successful in the past at the position.

Granted, Mel Blunt, Rod Woodson, and I Taylor aren't walking through that door anytime soon,

but there's a mold that the Steelers are certainly trying to get back to at the position.

It helps that in today's NFL, those long physical athletic cornerbacks that can hold up on an island,

and where once rare commodities are now becoming more of the

norm coming out of the college ranks.

Pittsburgh very clearly liked Rush coming out of South Carolina in the 2023 NFL draft, but they were unable to land him after the Indianapolis

colts selected him in the fifth round.

To that point, the Steelers had already added Joey Porter Jr. in the second round and later on as is well known the Steelers

doubled up with the position and selected produce Corey Trice Jr. in the seventh

round. Though Trice is on the men due to a torn a ciel suffered in training camp, the Steelers now have three young

cornerbacks with that ideal length, athleticism, and physicality with which to work with.

All three are six foot two or bigger and all three have arms

32.5 inches or longer. That is incredible size at the cornerback position in today's
