Seemingly each and every season, the Pittsburgh Steelers have a player become a great story and a clear example of the development process that the franchise goes through with young players.

In recent seasons, names like Duck Hodges, Mike Hilton, Robert Spelane, Arthur Millett, and even Jaylin Warren have stood

out as undrafted guys that earned a spot.

Took to their roles quite well and had strong performances for the Steelers in big spots.

It looks like second-year tight-end Rodney Williams might be the next of that group.

Williams, who signed to the Steelers practice squad early on in the 2022 season after being waived by the Denver Broncos, stuck around throughout the entire 22 season,

eventually sticking around in Pittsburgh long term after landing a reserve futures contract in January from the Black and Gold.

Then with that opportunity in hand,

Williams made a strong case for the roster and training camp before being cut and then re-signed to the practice squad.

Though he was cut before making the 53-man roster, Williams really impressed and turned heads for the Steelers.

Enough so to want to keep him around, knowing the type of athlete and the talent they had at

the position.

When Pat Friarmise went down with a hamstring injury in week four, Williams got his shot with the Steelers,

signing to the 53-man roster ahead of the Week 5 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.

Though he didn't see snaps offensively, Williams took full advantage of his opportunity by making

plays on special teams for the Steelers.

Williams nearly recovered Miles Kilibers' blocked punt for a touchdown before being rolled out on a safety.

And then, he made a key tackle on Baltimore's Kvonne Seymour after Gunnar Ochezki'sumble on a punt return in the fourth quarter.

As we all know, that tackle proved to be game-changing as it kept Baltimore out of the end zone on the fumble return.
