It's one of the most basic things about football.

No matter how much the game changes over the years.

Even with it being one of the most basic parts of the game, teams continue to struggle at

it, especially in the NFL and especially as the rules change to make

the game safer.

While there are plenty of things for the Steelers to focus on in the Week 1 matchup against

the San Francisco 49ers, specifically the star-level

talent offensively and Christian McCaffrey, Devo Samuel, and George Kittle just to name a few.

The Steelers are focusing heavily on doing well. The routine things routinely.

Tackling, tackling, it's a massive key

for the Steelers defensively on Sunday.

Rightfully so, too. Last season, according to Pro Football Focus, the 49ers forced

157 missed tackles. I'll say that again. The 49ers forced 157 missed tackles last season. The Steelers, on the other hand, missed just 97 tackles last season, eight of which came on special teams.

Pittsburgh tackled well in 2022. That carried over into training camp and the preseason.
