I'm Alexa Deloraco. The Pittsburgh Steelers still have a glaring hole at an

offensive skill position heading into the NFL draft. Who is going to be their

starter at slot receiver?

While you could argue Jackson Smith and Jigba would be a run the card up to the podium type of guy,

the chances of J.S.N. falling past the wide receiver needy

Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans are slim. I see the Steelers addressing slot receiver in more of the third or fourth round range.

If that's the case and the Steelers don't take a receiver until the mid rounds, I see a massive year-2 leap coming from Steelers receiver, George

Pickens.

Per Pro Football Focus, George Pickens had 20 contested catches last season, which ranked first among all

rookies. On 20 plus yard throws, Pickens ranked seventh in targets, but third in catch rate, and third in

receptions, and had only one drop. If Pickens had numbers like this in an offense that was ranked 26th in points per game in

2022 and also 24th in passing yards per game.

Pickens will take a huge leap forward

if the Steelers even improve their offense

to league average.
