Welcome to the terrible take, a mini podcast telling Steelers Nation what's on our mind.

0:07.5

I'm Joe Clark.

0:09.3

It was somewhat interesting to me that the Pittsburgh Steelers first pre-draft visitor was an offensive tackle,

0:16.0

with Miami's Markele Bell coming in for a visit on Friday.

0:20.2

Offensive tackle moved up suddenly on the team's list of needs, with the report that

0:24.3

Broder Jones had fusion surgery following a neck injury that ended his season in week 12.

0:29.5

GM Omar Khan expressed some doubt that Jones would be ready for training camp, where it's

0:33.0

expected to compete with Dylan Cook for the starting left tackle job.

0:36.8

Cook did great when he took over at left tackle midway through week 14 until the end of the

0:41.2

year, but it was still a small sample size and the Steelers may want to bring in competition

0:45.7

for him. As far as Bell goes, he likely wouldn't be in the mix of start right away if the

0:49.9

Steelers did draft him, as he is more of a developmental prospect. But the Steelers also released Calvin Anderson, and there's a real path where the team

0:57.6

signs a starting caliber offensive tackle to compete with Cook and drafts a developmental

1:01.6

prospect on day two or early on day three to serve as maybe a fourth tackle sort of role.

1:08.0

Well, to me, offensive tackle seemed more like a late day three pick a a pick where you kind of

1:12.6

throw a dart on a guy with how many picks the Steelers have in this draft that sort of selection

1:16.8

but now it seems to be a legitimate option early in the draft i'm curious to see how the Steelers

1:23.3

go about addressing a position free agency is that will also say how much faith they have in

1:27.2

Dylan Cook but it also will help set

1:29.2

the draft board.

1:29.9

And right now, I fully believe that the Steelers will be drafting an offensive tackle before

1:34.5

the fifth round come April.
