Welcome to the Terrible Take, a daily segment telling Steelers Nation what's on our mind.

I'm Alex Kizora. My favorite topic,

special teams. For the first time since 2012, the Steelers will have a new special teams coordinator,

that's veteran coach Danny Crossman, and there are some fun storylines. He played his college ball

at Pitt, a starting safety opposite Louis Riddick. He was named

the first ever World Bowl MVP and received a car for it, no word on how he got it back home to the

States. Anne Crossman is, in a sense, reuniting with Mike McCarthy, who was Pitt's GA during

Crossman's final year with the Panthers. But importantly, how good of a coach

is Crossman? That's tough to judge from afar. He's been liked enough to stay in the league since the

early 2000s, Sands last year, sitting out of the NFL. But his units have generally struggled. They

always seem to end in disaster or close to it with Crossman getting fired.

Punting in particular has been an issue, which is already a long-standing problem in Pittsburgh.

In the study that I did, his units just have not been standout or consistent enough.

And my fear is, Crossman's unit will wear out his welcome sooner than later and have fans, myself included,

pining for Danny Smith to come home.
