In the NFL draft, one debate that always comes up is the merit of talent versus

positional value.

This year, we're seeing that argument play out with Ohio State safety, Caleb Downs,

and Ohio State linebacker Sonny Stiles.

If teams pass on those two players early in the draft due to the positional value,

I think the Steelers are well positioned to move up and acquire a potential game-changing

player for their defense.

Downs is the best safety prospect to enter the NFL in a long, long time. And the sailors didn't get great safety play last season.

A big reason of that was the injury to Sean Elliott, and we don't know what Elliot's

outlook is going to be post-injury.

I mean, he was a stud when he played, but we don't know if that will continue to be the

case coming off a serious knee injury.

Gillen Ramsey was fine.

He was pretty solid at safety, but he's also not getting any younger.

Trading up for a player like downs would make the Sears defense better, and I really think

it's something they should look to do if he does fall.

The same goes for Stiles.

Pittsburgh's inside line by your player was iffy last season.

And Stiles is a strong tackler with good coverage skills and a ton of athleticism who could

become a day one starter for the Steelers. Yes, they have Patrick Queen and Payne Wilson,
