Nation what's on our mind. I'm Josh Carney. The Pittsburgh Steelers have struggled to find an answer at the

cornerback position in recent years, going through a number of pieces like Levi Wallace, Patrick

Peterson, and now Darius Slay, at least on the perimeter. But what if an answer was there all

along on the Steelers roster? Maybe that answer is James Pierre.

Head coach Mike Tomlin praised Pierre Tuesday for his performance against the Los Angeles

Charters, stepping in for the Andrew to slay in the first half and finishing with two

pass breakups.

Pierre's performance was a good one and matches what he's done time and time again coming

off the bench for the black and gold.

On the season, he's played 111 snaps defensively and has allowed just four receptions on 12 targets for 33 yards.

He has six pass breakups, too.

Though he's very clearly comfortable coming off the bench in a reserve role,

maybe it's time to see what Pierre has as a starter.

He's been around forever, playing 90 career games and counting with the Steelers.

He's developed into a great special teams piece, and Tomlin called him a rising defender Tuesday.

Maybe they need to give that starting opportunity to Pierre, rewarding him for the hard work he's put in behind the
