I'm Melanie Friedlander. The NFL trade deadline has come and gone.

After all the endless discussion from NFL insiders that the Steelers were looking to add a

wide receiver via trade, it didn't happen. If you believe the reports, the Steelers were in the

running for Raiders' wide receiver Jacoby Myers. They supposedly made the same offer as the Jaguars, who landed Myers

instead. For Myers, who was in a contract year, it was the smart choice to go to a team that would

likely get him more targets. The Steelers, with D.K. Metcalf at wide receiver one, and an offense

that plays multiple tight ends, wouldn't have been his best bet for scoring that next deal.

The Steelers are in an interesting position where they are trying to hoard their picks for the 2026 draft,

but still seem to have a win-at-all mentality for this season.

It's tough to find balance between those two goals. Halfway through the season, I still don't know what to expect from the 2025 Steelers.

Before they kicked off in week one, I thought the defense would carry this team. The O-line would struggle

significantly, and Aaron Rogers would be running for his life, something that is tough to do at 41
