Allow me to talk about my favorite topic, special

teams. The injuries Pittsburgh has suffered in recent weeks have impacted that group severely. The

Steelers replaced in the unenviable position of being on its third string personal protector

of the punt team, the quarterback of that unit central to making sure there is not a game-changing block.

First, it was Mao's Kilibrew.

After his season-ending injury, Gibral-Peppers assumed the mantle.

Peppers missed last Sunday's game, putting Ben Scoric into the role, one he did well.

Replacing Scoronic at Gunner, no small shoes to fill, was cornerback Brandon Eccles.

Eccles snagged the first of six turnovers on the day, recovering a Coltsmuff punt.

Both players and the rest of the Steelers Special Teams unit played well throughout the afternoon.

And overall, the coverage teams have been excellent.

Since week three, the longest punt return Pittsburgh has allowed is just 13 yards.

Over that same span, the longest kick runback is just 30 yards and an average of only

24 and a half yards. Carson Bruner, Connor Hayward, James

Pierre, Scaronic, Eccles, and the rest of the group are really holding their own.

Mistela's return game hasn't popped, but Keishon Williams has done well, though I do harbor a little

concern over his ball security, added in Chris Boswell, Corliss Waitman, and Danny Smith's brilliant decision to kick
