Losing players to injury is never a great thing, but there might be a small silver lining for the Steelers,

and that silver lining is Roman Wilson.

Every year when discussing incoming wide receivers in the NFL draft, Mike Tomlin raves about how

wide receivers are more and more NFL ready these days because of the emergence of seven on

seven. These players are able to play year round, and because of it, they are more ready for the

rigors of the NFL. So why then has Roman Wilson basically not gotten a chance yet?

Obviously, he had injury issues last year, so he wasn't going to be able to play then, but he did

get a year full of mental reps and a solid training camp and preseason to boot before the 2025

season. Yet he only has 44 snaps on offense this season and just one

catch on two targets for seven yards. There's been a lot of talk about who's going to fill in

for Calvin Austin while he's out for what could be one, two, three, four weeks, something in that

ballpark with a shoulder injury suffered in

week four. And some of the local beatwriters are even speculating that Ben Skoronik and

Scottie Miller could have bigger roles and Roman Wilson's might not change much. If that's the case,

then what in the heck is going on? Mike Tomlin very clearly loved Roman Wilson at the Senior

Bowl prior to his draft.

I witnessed it with my own two eyes.

And NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah said Tomlin viewed Wilson as one of the best receivers in attendance at the Senior Bowl that year.

Let me remind you that Ricky Pearsall Jr. and Ladd-McConkey were both in attendance at that Senior Bowl.

And a lot of the preseason buzz this year was that the team is raving about Roman Wilson
