What is the value of the NFL Combine? It's a big question coming off the event in Indy.

Sure, it's just one piece of a puzzle and hardly actual football, a bunch of guys running around on a field without pads or an opponent. But even beyond the interviews in medical, there's value in the testing. Creating an even

playing field matters. To judge prospects in the same environment at the same time is as apples to

apples as teams will get in a muddy draft process. As analytical as the leak has become, the testing really matters. No, a 40-yard dash does not

tell you alone if a player will succeed or fail at the next level, but it, along with other data

points, can have predictive power. Relative athletic score can create thresholds and parameters

for each position.

You know which players are outliers and have to overcome history.

The testing does not match up.
