With the Super Bowl on Sunday comes conspiracy.

You and I know that if the Chiefs win and complete the three-peat, they will be cries that the fix is in. The refs have rigged the game, given Mahomes the calls, all the complete the storyline and mega interest

the chiefs have become. So much so that in a first that I can recall, the head of the

Referees Association comes out Tuesday to deny and denounce any accusations of the game

being rigged or intentionally influenced in any way.

While some calls have been questionable,

I don't believe there's a figurative game happening during the actual one.

I don't think it's rigged or scripted and won't until I see any evidence that suggests it is.

In evidence, if it were true, would be out there, just as it was with

Tim Doneghee and the NBA two decades ago. But the NFL have done themselves no favors.

Earlier this decade, they joked about having a script, which admittedly was born from a joking

internet meme the league just tried to lean into, but they didn't attempt

to run away from the accusation from the very beginning, a decision they now likely regret.

More importantly, their close relationship with the major gambling companies naturally cast doubt

on the game. Before, there was little personal incentive for a ref or any individual

taking the chance to rig things. Now, gambling ads, promotions, and tie-ins are as common as field
