Well, that went much better than anticipated.

All week, the move for the Pittsburgh Steelers going from Justin Fields to Russell Wilson at quarterback was widely criticized as the Steelers were four and two coming into week seven against the New York Jets and had been playing relatively well with Fields under Center.

Early on against the Jets, it looked like Mike Tomlin and the Steelers made the wrong move going to the 35-year-old Wilson.

As the veteran quarterback was very rusty playing his first game action in a regular season game in almost 10 months.

But then, Wilson did what he always has done. He uncorked one of his moonballs to George

Pickens. Next thing you know, the offense found rhythm and well the rest is history.

No, really it was history. Wilson set a franchise record for

passing yards in his first game of his career with the Steelers, breaking a

record Earl Morrill once held. He also led the Steelers to a franchise record for most points in a first start, too, with 37.

Heck of a call from Tomlin.

And now the Steelers are five and two and rolling into week eight against the New York

Giants looking to go into the by week in style with Wilson under center.

For one week at least, Tomlin looks like an absolute genius, and Wilson has generated quite a bit of optimism.

It went much better than anticipated, and that's a credit to Mike Tomlin, who went Lone Ranger.

Great call, great feel for his team.
