Tuesday was Judgment Day.

No more excuses about health or rust or anything else purely a football decision Mike

Tomlin had the chance to stamp his starting quarterback for week seven against

the New York Jets and and he hedged.

He said Russell Wilson would receive strong consideration and first team reps, but stop short of naming

a definitive starter.

That's the worst of all worlds option.

Wosin or Fields I can buy either guy.

Josh Connie did a nice job yesterday outlining why a switch makes sense.

But I load the fence riding. I mean we all know it's going to be Wilson. No way

Tomlin opens that door Tuesday only to slam it in Wilson's face. Like it or not, and I know

most don't, he is going to start. So if you're

Tomlin, just say it. Lead with strength, with confidence. Russ is our guy. We're

going to win. I know he's playing games. He even acknowledged it later in the press conference once calling it cute.

But I would just name the guy. Don't let the will he, won't he consume the airwaves and seep into the team into that locker room.

Players being asked about who they think will start, who they think should start, forcing everyone

to cautiously dance around it.

Name the starter, have the players fall in line, lead as a team in collective instead of this

unsure mealy mouth approach. There's nothing more you need to see in either guy, Fields, or Wilson, that will sway your decision.

It's not like these are young players who just need more reps.
