Welcome to the terrible take a daily segment telling Steelers nation what's on our mind.

I'm Alex Kazora. Throughout the off season I've been expecting defensive back Patrick Peterson

to remain a Steeler after listening to him on the latest episode of his

All Things Covered podcast, I'm not so sure. Mostly because he's not so sure.

Hearing his comments saying the Steelers have to decide whether or not he returns and his overall body language did not inspire much confidence that the team would pick up his mid-March roster bonus.

And there are reasons to argue for him to go.

He's not getting any younger.

He can't or at least shouldn't play outside corner anymore.

And his actual role with the team in 2024 is unclear.

It likely be a little bit of a lot.

A little bit of slot corner, a little bit of safety, a little bit of whatever the team

needed.

But if Peterson gets to heave hoe, the Steelers will have an awfully empty

quarterback room. Levi Wallace, James Pierre, and Shannon Sullivan are all pending free agents. One or two of those names might return, but the Steelers will still

be thin heading into free agency, and they'd be tasked to replace Peterson's high number of

snaps and versatility, something you just don't go out and find,

not without paying for it at least.

It's perhaps one of the most interesting decisions to watch

before the new league gear begins.
