So far this off season, much of the focus for the Pittsburgh Steelers,

from a roster addition standpoint, has focused on

getting younger and rebuilding the trenches on the defensive side of the football.

That particularly focuses on the defensive line where the Steelers

aren't exactly getting any younger. Cameron Hayward is set to return in 2024

assuming his contract gets figured out,

whether he does take a pay cut or gets an extension

to lessen his cap-hit.

But he'll be 35 in the 2024 season. Larry Ogan Jobe is 30.

Kiano Benton is the youngest of the bunch at just 22 years old and he performed quite well as a rookie in 2023.

But more youth is needed along the defensive line for the Steelers.

It has been for some time.

But knowing that, the Steelers cannot reach for the position in the 2024 NFL draft.

Sure, it is paramount that the Steelers add to the defensive line either in for agency, through the draft, or both. But doing so in the

draft, they can't make a selection for need early on. There are some solid prospects at the top of the rankings for the position

leading up to the draft, but none of them really fit the Steelers style.

Illinois's Jurzon Newton, Texas defensive linemen Byron Murphy, and even Oregon's Brandon Dorless, are certainly good players.

But none are really ideal fits for the Steelers.

Missouri's Darius Robinson is a popular name with great size and traits, but he might go in the first

round.
