The biggest story today for Steelers fans is when their team might actually play their wild card round game against the Buffalo Bills.

With a winter storm raging through Orchard Park, New York and the surrounding area, the current

answer is we have no idea.

Here's what I do know.

Whenever that game kicks off, the Steelers might be 9.5 point

underdogs, but they still have a chance to win and advance to the next round of the playoffs,

something they haven't done since January 2017, when they made it as far as the AFC

championship and one of the reasons they have a chance this year is the depth on

their roster. Sure Pittsburgh's record is 1 in 10 when T.J. Watt is ruled out by

injury but thanks to signing

veteran Marcus Golden and drafting Nick Herbig, there will be some pass rushing

talent across from Alex Highsmith. Losing inside linebackers Cole Hokum and Kwan Alexander to season any injury could have been a disaster.

But even with one arm, Alanden Roberts is a force to be reckoned with,

and Miles Jack has made a successful transition from pickup basketball back to NFL starter.

What about the safety position? Without the top three safeties, the Steelers reorganized

their defensive back unit, moving Patrick Peterson from

cornerback to safety, and bringing veteran Eric Rowe off the couch.

Even Miles Kilibrough and Chandon Sullivan have played meaningful snaps.

Now, with Minkofitzpatrick and DeMonte Casey back in the lineup, they have strength in numbers.

And that gives defensive coordinator Terrell Austin the opportunity to be more creative in his game planning.
