There's been a lot of talk about the Steelers losing their way.

Former players like Ben Rothesberger, Ryan Clark, and Chris Hoke have weighed in on the issue.

Obviously when players criticize the team who were around when the tradition was still very much alive, it is worth a listen and holds some weight, but the issues to me were expected.

What did the team expect to happen with a roster on offense the way it is?

The defense has plenty of leaders who have been with the organization for multiple

contracts but on offense only Dante Johnson is on his second contract with the

team of the starters.

Johnson isn't exactly the type to be a vocal leader,

and he has had his own effort issues this season.

Other than him, you have a couple of NFL veterans on offense,

but they all sign with the team in the last year or two.

Not enough time to fully understand the tradition of the franchise in the way that a guy like

Cameron Hayward would on defense for example.

Mitch Trebuskey pointed to Alan Robinson, Mason Cole, and Nagee Harris has guys that people look to as

leaders on offense.

This is no indictment to their abilities, but again, Harris is on his rookie contract with the

team and Robinson and Cole signed as external free agents the last two years.

Kenny Pickett seems to be a lead-by example type as he has been said to stay late and attend things like special

teams in defensive meetings so he understands the entirety of what the team is trying to

accomplish on a given week. He has been injured the last couple of games and he has had
