Summary

January 2, 2026 - Season 16, Episode 72 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers as they prepare to play the Baltimore Ravens at home on Sunday night for the AFC North title and a spot in the playoffs. We open this show by going over the latest injury report for the Steelers that was released on Thursday afternoon. We discuss how we'll be watching closely the game-status given on Friday to OLB T.J. Watt, who has been sidelined with a lung issue the last few weeks. We also discuss how important it might be to have G Isaac Seumalo back from his triceps injury on Sunday night. The Ravens have a few players on their Week 18 injury report that we will be monitoring on Friday, so we quickly go over who they are ahead of Friday's practice. We also discuss QB Lamar Jackson deeming himself healthy enough to play on Sunday night against the Steelers. Alex and I move forward in this show by looking at the Steelers’ most recent transactions that were made this week. We also discuss the possibility of the team not needing to make any elevations from their practice squad on Saturday. On Thursday, we once again heard from two of the Steelers' coordinators, Arthur Smith and Teryl Austin, so Alex and I recap the main talking points to come out of those media sessions. There's truly little to chew on from those two once again this week, but we tackle the most notable comments from both ahead of the Sunday night game against the Ravens. We welcome Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Banner back to the show on Friday, and he helps us preview the Steelers-Ravens game. Shaffer has covered the Ravens for many seasons, and he certainly knows that team inside and out. We get his thoughts on several things related to the Sunday night game in Pittsburgh and his thoughts on the future of Jackson and Ravens HC John Harbaugh moving past the 2025 season. If not already doing so, make sure to follow Jonas on X/Twitter at @jonas_shaffer and make sure to read his work here: https://www.thebanner.com/author/jonas-shaffer/. After finishing with Shaffer, Alex and I provide our own preview of the Steelers-Ravens game. We break down what we are looking for out of each team on both sides of the football Sunday night. Alex and I go over a few wrinkles we would like to see from the Steelers on offense on Sunday night and that includes the unit possibly having seven offensive linemen on the field at the same time a few times during that contest. We also discuss the possibility of us seeing RB Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell both on the field at the same time a few times against the Ravens. The Steelers defense will have a chore when it comes to stopping Ravens RB Derrick Henry on Sunday night so that topic gets a lot of our attention. We also discuss whether we'll see the Ravens defense play a lot of man-coverage on Sunday night in Pittsburgh against Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers, much like they did in Baltimore back in Week 14. Alex and I then give our picks against the spread for all of the Week 18 NFL games provided by show sponsor MyBookie.ag. We also give our final score predictions for the Steelers-Ravens game. This 136-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted above and we end this episode by answering several emails we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Dave got a jam-pack show today. It's going to be our first show of 2026. So happy New Year to all. It might be our longest show of the year. We got so much to talk about. So Dave, how you doing? I'm doing great. You know me. I'm worried about you and your voice, though, here. Because, yeah, we could easily make this probably three hours. We'll try not to, but we do have a lot to get to here. So I'm not going to fill up a lot of time, just rambling and stuttering at the stop. Let's get going here on week 18. And we have a great guest later in the show. Jonas Schaefer from the Baltimore banner, who covers the Ravens, of course had him on before the week 14 game, get his perspective and update ahead of week 18. All right, Dave, let's get into it. The health of this team, let's just start there for the Pittsburgh Steelers. There's still some questions going into Friday. Of course, the final injury report will drop later today and give a lot more

clarity when it comes to T.J. Watt, he has been limited Wednesday and Thursday. There's been a lot of

1:50.4

mixed messaging in terms of will he or won't he play. DC Terrell Austin seemingly hinting that Watt

will return. Austin telling reporters Thursday, it'll be great to get T.J. back. Ian Rappaport's had some very cluttered messaging, sometimes saying he's up in the air, sometimes saying he's inching towards playing. We're just not quite sure. Friday should be illuminating. But for a guy that has not practiced fully, it is still an open question officially whether or not Watt plays.

Yeah, that's the one we're keeping

the eye on and the Steelers, by the way, are practicing at Accresure Stadium on this Friday,

getting themselves. They've been practicing obviously indoors quite a bit and like Tomlin's

taken them out there, I guess to just get acclimated with the weather and all and the conditions and the

field and everything related to that.

2:36.4

But all eyes obviously will be on T.J. Watt going limited the last two days.

2:42.9

I think he plays. I'm betting you think he plays.
