Summary

**this is a remastered and expanded version of a series released in 2016** Sydney, Nova Scotia, 1992 When 18 year old McDonald's employee Derek Wood finished his shift, he lingered for a time in the closed restaurant before exiting. Unknown to the staff remaining to complete their nightly tasks, Derek had propped open a basement door and in a matter of moments he would return with two friends armed with knives, a shovel, and a gun. The resulting robbery gone wrong will lead to a mass murder and an entire community struggling to understand how this could happen and who was responsible. During this series, the story will be told by Phonse Jessome who led the local reporting at the time of the crime and wrote the bestselling book on the case, 'Murder at McDonald's'. 0:38.0	Von Jessam, 18-year-old McDonald's employee, Derek Wood, and of course his two co-conspirators, Darren Muse and

0:48.8	From there, we heard a step-by-step account of the robbery gone wrong that resulted in the brutal murders of

1:15.6	Cape Rutten's worst mass murder, but they had two major problems. The police
1:21.5	were likely on the way as when they shot and killed Jimmy Fagin,
1:25.0	they were pretty sure his cab driver had seen what happened.
1:28.0	But the biggest problem was that Derek Wood had left his backpack propping open the back door of the restaurant.

2:14.0	heard something I ran away so he sounded like he was a witness but not a witness
2:18.0	suggest he said just go home he wrote down his name we'll get to you.
2:28.0	So Derek tried to call his cousin to get picked up and taken home but couldn't get through his cousin was sleeping. So he decided to leave King's variety and walk to Freeman McNeil's house, which is a good walk to see if he could catch up to the other two.
