Summary

Many Christians feel they need to choose either the Word of God or the Spirit of God as their guide. But when we put the Spirit above the Word, we lose our grounding and direction. And when we put the Word above the Spirit, we have a clear path but lack the ability to rely on God’s power to carry it out. This weekend, Pastor Stacie Wood talks about how God accomplishes his will in our lives when we balance his Spirit and his Word!

0:05.3	And I do want to welcome all of you that are joining us online, our online Saddleback family,

0:14.9	joining us this weekend for this word. Now, you can know, you can rest assured that whenever there is an actual sword
0:22.1	on stage, that it is going to be a good day in the house. So this sword actually belongs to my son.
0:30.6	Andy gave both of our sons a real sword when they turned 13 years old as like an initiation into manhood type ceremony. And so in a little bit,
0:41.4	Andy's going to come up and he's going to do like a sword wielding demonstration for us.
0:45.7	You guys want to see that? Yeah, it's not going to happen, but it would be funny if it did. It would
0:53.7	be great.
0:55.0	The reason that there's a sword on stage is because my message is called the sword and the spirits.
1:01.9	And today we're going to talk about how the Bible is referred to as a sword.
1:06.2	In Ephesians chapter 6, when Paul is walking us through the armor of God that we have.
1:12.3	And he talks about the breastplate of righteousness and the belt of truth and the helmet
1:17.6	of salvation.
1:18.7	And if you look at that last line, it says that we have the sword of the spirit, which is the
1:26.1	word of God.
1:26.7	And I love that Paul cause it a sword, because it's our
1:30.8	only offensive weapon when it comes to all of our armor of God. Like we have a lot of defensive
1:36.8	weapons, but this, man, we go on the offense with this. We take new ground with this. We defeat
1:43.7	the enemy with this. It's the sort of
1:46.2	the spirit, the word of God. And so today we're going to look at how does the Bible and the
1:53.3	spirit, how do they interact with one another? And to do that, I want to take you on a little bit of a
