I'm Charles Coleman Jr. filling in for my friend Ali Velshi, and we've got a lot to talk about.

Now, since his return to office at the beginning of the year, Donald Trump's retribution campaign has become a singular focus for his administration. Its scope is probably

much bigger than most people realize. Four hundred and seventy targets and counting have gotten

tangled up in Trump's quest for vengeance so far. Now, that's according to Reuters, which

has taken on the monumental task of documenting the

individuals, groups, and institutions that the administration has punished or threatened in some way.

It's a difficult but necessary undertaking, and it resembles in some respects the Washington

Post's project to keep count of the lies that Donald Trump told during his first stint in office.

Now, if you're wondering, that count totaled around 30,573. Both projects can seem like

fruitless work because, in both cases, the behavior is a core feature of the man himself. He does

it constantly, naturally, and almost entirely without shame. But that is, in fact,

why it's so important to catalog it. What's normal behavior for Donald Trump must not and cannot

become a new normal for the American presidency. Current and former government officials have been

singled out. Law firms and universities have been major targets.

Democratic-led states, cities, and the officials who run them have also faced Trump's wrath as well.

Dozens of officials from multiple federal agencies are now part of a task force involved in helping

the White House carry out these efforts. Writers describes Trump's vengeance campaign as a fusion of, quote, personal vendettas with a drive

for cultural and political dominance.

It identified at least 462 cases in which the administration took punitive action of some

kind, and that includes firing, suspensions, and investigations.
