Summary

This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! PART TWO

Galveston has seen more than its share of history—but some believe it’s also held onto more than it should.

From the devastation of the Great Galveston Hurricane of 1900 to the echoes of war, disease, and loss, the island carries a past that never fully settled. Entire sections of the city were rebuilt over what came before, leaving behind layers of memory that some say can still be felt.

Historic buildings that survived the worst of it all now hold stories that don’t always stay quiet. Footsteps in empty halls. Unexplained voices. Moments that feel less like imagination—and more like something still present.

For Eddy Specter and January Wilson of Eddy Specter’s Ghost Tours, these encounters aren’t just stories—they’re part of what draws people back, again and again.

So what is it about Galveston? Is it the history itself… or something the island never let go of?

Today on the Grave Talks, we continue our conversation about the ghosts of Galveston with

January Wilson and Eddie Spector. So many people have told me it's very important to tell an

0:14.0

accurate story, that if you're telling a BS story, that it's kind of made up or perhaps it's what's the word I want.

0:24.3

You're making it bigger than what it really is or was.

0:29.7

That I've talked to a lot of people who've said that the spirits do not like that.

0:35.1

They want the real story told.

0:37.7

I'll agree with that.

0:38.8

We've had some issues.

0:41.3

Oh, gosh.

0:42.2

Yeah.

0:42.5

So there's a bar here called the mob bar.

0:45.1

Not anymore.

0:46.2

Shed a tear.

0:47.6

If anyone wants to run this building, by the way, please do.

These people couldn't keep managers. I think after the fifth manager, the guy just

0:56.3

threw up his hands and went, nope. But we were in there one night. And it was actually, it was the

1:01.9

longest functioning legally licensed brothel in the state of Texas. And this particular bar

1:08.3

specialized in underage people, unfortunately.

1:12.0

And so one of the managers at the time and myself and a couple of other tour guides,

1:17.4

it was after work, we're sitting there at the bar and sort of talking about what we do.

1:21.6

And the bartender himself, the manager, was having, watching a complaint about another tour guide

who would often tell
