Hey everybody, welcome to the single tracks podcast. Today it's me, Greg, and I'm here with singletrax.com co-founders, Jeff and Leah Barber. Thanks for joining me today, guys. Thanks, Greg. Thanks. So today we're going to talk about how single tracks got it start.

Single tracks has been around for quite some time now, and I'm interested to hear from Leah and Jeff about the idea that was behind the website in the beginning.

So to you really get started, when did you guys start mountain biking?

I actually started mountain biking in high school.

So that would have been like the mid-1990s. I mean, I had always ridden bikes off road.

And actually, in middle school, I asked for a 10-speed bike for Christmas. And the bike I had in mind was like a road bike you know one of my

neighbors had one and I thought that was a lot of fun to ride around Christmas morning I ended up

getting a mountain bike you know it's knobby tired 26er bike and I was honestly I was a little

disappointed I was like man this isn't what I thought it was but it did have gears and you

know I quickly rode it around the neighborhood and

started riding it in the backyard and, you know, there were like woods kind of around our house.

And so I would do a lot of that kind of mountain biking.

How about you, Leah?

It wasn't really until college that I started mountain biking.

And Greg, you know that Jeff and and I we have a pretty long history together

we were in high school together and that's when we started dating and as much as I'd like to give

Jeff some credit for getting me into the sport he was he was a small part but I did have a group of

college friends that got me into mountain biking it was actually while I was co-opping at Georgia Tech

at a company in North Carolina. A friend did a weekly ride there. He was way into bikes. His name
