Summary
In 1898, a young attorney in Italy who was also an amateur photographer was given permission to be the first person allowed to photograph the burial cloth that was said to be the one that covered Jesus's body when Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus prepared him for burial. It had been in possession of that church in Turin Italy for hundreds of years and was considered sacred. The photographer, Pia Secondo, and two men of the church were busy developing the pictures of the shroud, which was 14 feet long, and carried the very faint image of a man lying on his back.that was said to have been Jesus. Pia was holding the negative plate in his hand, and as he looked at it he drew back in shock, almost dropping it. The face and body of the man in the negative were now visible in stunning detail . Pia Secondo was looking at what he believed to be the face of his lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
