Hey friend, it's Kristen. Grab your scriptures and let's dive into Exodus 20 versus 8 through 10.

So a few Sundays ago, I came home from church and I was just exhausted.

I had been in meeting starting at 7 a.m.

And I didn't get home until 4.30 p.m. And I chuckled over the idea of Sunday being a day of rest,

because it was not restful at all. But then I remembered the Lord's words to the Israelites.

Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor and do all thy work.

But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God. In it, thou shalt not do any work.

I realize that the Lord's definition of work differs greatly from mine. The original Hebrew for work in

these verses is Melaka, and please excuse my pronunciation,

but it can best be translated as business. So while we spend Monday through Saturday taking

care of personal, professional, and family business, the Sabbath is a day for us to be about

our father's business.

The Sabbath isn't about being lazy or staying home all day or not doing anything.

Instead, it's a reminder to shift our lives so that God's will is our top priority,

which is where it should be the rest of the week as well.
