Hello, everyone. Welcome to Slash Film Weekly. It's Wednesday, November 19th, 2025. On today's episode of the show, we're going to run through some film and TV news. We'll have spoiler-filled discussions about the running man. Now You See Me Now You Don't, and in your dreams. And we'll present an interview with Now You See Me Now You Don't director, director Rubin Fleischer, and a discussion with Amir Edm Annan, the editor of Jafar Panahis, it was just an accident.

My name is Ben Pearson. I'm an editor at slashfilm.com. Unfortunately, I'll kick things off with two stories on the AI front. So on the Disney side of things, Bob Iger, the CEO of Disney said during a

0:33.3

recent investor call, I'm just going to read you part of his quote here. The other thing that we're

0:37.9

really excited about that AI is going to give us the ability to do is to provide users of Disney Plus

0:42.3

with a much more engaged experience, including the ability for them to create user-generated content

0:47.4

and to consume user-generated content, mostly short form from others. So it's unclear exactly how this is going to work, but the Hollywood Reporter and other

0:58.7

sites have speculated that it means that there's going to be some sort of functionality within

1:03.0

the Disney Plus app that allows people to slam together a bunch of Disney IP using generative

1:10.4

AI.

1:13.9

So that sounds awful, and I would never want to use any of that. I've made my stance on artificial intelligence pretty clear on the podcast,

1:19.2

I think. So this just sounds like Disney seeding whatever moral high ground they might have had

1:24.8

left by integrating this technology that is built on theft,

1:28.5

by the way. I mean, we've said this several times, but integrating this directly into the

1:33.5

platform and just letting people go wild. And of course, they're going to own everything that

1:38.7

everyone creates, quote unquote, on there. And yeah, it just sounds awful. And then Variety announced right before I

1:46.2

started recording that Prime Video is now using AI to produce video recaps for its original series,

1:52.2

which again, like, I'll read you the quote from Variety here. According to Amazon, creating

1:58.2

each video recap is a multi-step process using generative AI, the video recaps feature analyzes a season's key plot points and character arcs

2:06.8

to deeply understand the most pivotal moments that will resonate with viewers as they enter the next season,

2:12.3

according to the company.

2:13.6

AI then finds the most compelling video clips and pairs them with audio effects, dialogue, and music.

2:19.6

Those are stitched together with an AI-generated voiceover narration.
