asking. I'm excited that you are here as well. Today we're going to be talking about reactions to survivors and the way survivors are treated.

We're also going to discuss your book. And for those that do not know, Dr. Nicole Baderer. You've just recently wrote a book called On the Wrong Side, How Universities Protect Perpetrators and Betray Survivors of Sexual Violence. We will be discussing that today, but your overall expertise is in

reactions to survivors and the way survivors are treated. And I've listened to at least a

thousand survivor stories. We've put out over 400, but I've listened to a lot of them.

And there are just so many times where survivors aren't heard.

Survivors are doing their best to communicate what has happened.

And the expectation of how a survivor is supposed to communicate gets mixed up.

Well, if this person is acting this way and the perpetrator or the alleged perpetrator

is acting this way, why are they acting the alleged perpetrator is acting this way,

why are they acting so calm? And then we go back and think of Gabby Petito and everyone's

different opinions of what went on there. And you saw that Gabby Petito, it's very hard to be

calm in this situation. And then the eventual murderer in this case, calm as a cucumber, as nothing happened, and everyone's

reacting. And also, it's our public opinion as well of what's going on in these situations.

And a lot of the times people will say, I know I'm right. I know what I am

choosing is right and who's reacting to what. And people are a lot of times trying to play their

own investigator in these situations and making judgments. And I think that is, in my opinion, maybe the first problem and you'll go into it.

It's like, instead of judging, I assume, let's just start off by listening.

So I guess with all of what I just said, I guess take it away on, you know, how, first of you, how you got into this
