Summary

Christians need to understand the integral role renewing their minds plays in changing them for the better. To be able to behave differently, we must first begin learning to think like God. However, experiencing transformation is our decision; we must want to change because He will not renew our minds for us. This gradual renewal is different than simply learning new things; as we learn more of God’s Word, we begin to be transformed from the inside out. There is no way we can stay the same when we develop a relationship with God and spend time in His presence; we gradually become more and more like Him. The things we pay attention to exert great influence on our desire to change; therefore, we must pay more attention to God than to the world. Continually exposing ourselves to His Word allows the Holy Spirit to work in us to produce changes we could never achieve on our own.

0:26.1	renewing the mind and how necessary it is to renew the mind. Last week we begin to talk about
0:32.5	the process of change. Let's read Romans chapter 12 and verses 1 and 2, and then we'll pick up and
0:42.4	get started where we left off. First one says, I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of
0:47.8	God that you present your bodies are living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your
0:56.9	reasonable service. So he's asking for dedication here, and he says, and be not conformed to this world,
1:03.3	but be transformed. The amplify says, be changed. Be transformed or be changed. How?
1:10.6	By the renewing of your mind. Be transformed or be changed. How? By the renewing of your mind. He
1:18.0	says, when you renew your mind, then you can prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will
1:25.1	of God. Now, I want you to focus on this thing. He says, you can be transformed by the renewing
1:31.1	of your mind. Now, notice the person that is in the transformation mode. I said it before. I said
1:39.0	it again and again, that the most important thing you can do as a human being is to be born
1:44.3	again and make Jesus the Lord of your life. But now, once you have been born again, the most
1:50.6	important thing, the necessary thing is got to be renewing your mind. Renewing your mind is
1:57.7	exchanging your thoughts for God's thoughts, your opinions for God's opinions. It's literally
2:03.2	taking your way of thinking, lining it up with the word. And if your thinking doesn't line up
2:10.3	with the word, you don't try to change the word. You allow the word to change your thinking.
