Summary

Changing the way we think is integral in the process of renewing our minds. True change is not simply learning but allowing a transformation to take place in our thought processes. Renewing our minds is a lifestyle we must choose to embrace. We must be careful of what we allow our thoughts to be shaped and influenced by; God tells us to avoid thinking like the world and learn to think like Him. As free moral agents, the decision to change is ours. We can either choose the world’s way of thinking or His way of thinking, with very different outcomes; therefore, the choice we make is critical to our futures. Deciding to submit our will to God’s will in every circumstance is an important component of allowing Him to bring about change in us.

0:17.6	Enjoy the message. We're going to zero in on the process of change,
0:23.2	and I'm going to say something at the beginning, and I want to reiterate this point
0:28.2	that renewing the mind is more than just learning. It's changing. Let me say that again,
0:37.3	renewing the mind is more than just learning. It's changing, and so we're going to get into this
0:45.0	part of the series where we're going to begin to talk about this process of change, and that's what
0:51.6	it means when the Bible talks about change, be changed by the renewing of your mind.
0:56.6	I want to start off a little differently here. Let's go to 2 Corinthians chapter 5 and verse 17,
1:03.3	and I want to build this in phrases before we look at the steps that are going to be needed to
1:11.2	cause change in our lives. 2 Corinthians chapter 5, 17, and he says, therefore, if any man
1:19.6	be in Christ, he is a new creature, or he's a new creation. Old things have passed away,
1:25.8	behold, all things are become new. You're familiar with this scripture. It really describes
1:31.3	what happens when you get born again. If any man be in Christ, then he's a new creation. The old
1:37.7	things have passed away. That old man, that old sinful man has passed away, and that new man,
1:44.3	that new creation comes into being. Now, that just happens just by being born again.
1:50.3	When you make Jesus the Lord and personal savior of your life, just by being in Christ Jesus,
1:56.3	the old man dies, and the new creation begins to live on the inside of you. Now, what's that
2:03.2	to do with renewing the mind? Notice your mind didn't get saved, and your body didn't get saved,
2:10.9	but it was your spirit that got saved, a new creation there. Now, I notice a little different here
2:16.5	in Romans chapter 6 and verse 4, Romans 6 and 4. So while this talks about being born again,
