0:00.0	Welcome back friends. I hope you are ready to get your mind to line with the
0:07.3	truth of God. Carrie Green here. I'm excited to bring the scriptures to you
0:11.8	this morning. John chapter 16 is what we're looking at. We are beginning in
0:16.6	verse number one today and the context matters. We've got to keep the context in mind.
0:21.6	Jesus is speaking to his remaining 11 disciples about
0:25.9	what's going to happen after he is tried, after he is crucified, after he is
0:31.4	buried, and even after he's risen. He's trying to get these men
0:36.4	ready for the task of proclaiming his name across the known world. And he says in chapter 16 verse one,
0:45.0	I have said all these things to you
0:48.0	to keep you from falling away.
0:51.0	Because they will put you out of the synagogues. Indeed the hours coming
0:56.1	when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God and they will do
1:02.2	these things because they have not known the Father nor me.
1:07.2	But I've said these things to you that when their hour comes, you may remember that I told them to you.
1:15.0	Boy a word of preparation goes a very long way. Have you noticed that in life?
1:20.0	When someone who knows what's ahead prepares you and tells you what to expect in
1:26.4	a situation, it enables you to get your thinking right about that situation so that when the hard time comes you're ready.
1:36.6	When it shows up you're in a place where you can grit your teeth and clench your fists and muscle through out of will and devotion and dedication
1:49.2	rather than giving up. And that's exactly why Jesus is telling his disciples what he's saying.
1:55.4	Notice what he says in the very first verse, I've said all these things to you to
1:59.8	keep you from falling away. He's saying, I don't want you to give up.
2:04.4	I don't want you to back away from everything you've seen
