I thought there was a typo. So I called you Cherise. And you were like, nope, it's Charis. What's the origin of that? So my mother's name was Charlotte. She passed about nine years ago. And she saw Karras, which is like the Greek word for like love or grace. And she said, I'm going to say this as Sharis. You know how we do. And that is how it was born. Can I say we were talking, I was talking with Dr. Daniel Black, who is at Clark Atlanta. And we were talking on Monday about, you know, we've been talking about names. We did a rites of passage with him and he gave us all names and the power of names somebody else called

up and they had a you know a Yorba name and I just think about how many of us were stripped

from having the meaning because you know Africans it's not just your name it's your family lineage

that can be found in all of the names we got all of that stripped but we somehow found a way
