Hey, this is Durey and welcome to Part 2 of the People.

On this episode, we are joined by Representative Evac Clark in New York City.

I know that there has to be something done to truly get to the root of the dehumanization

of black people and communities and that the police have a role to play in changing this

dynamic.

I heard the news as usual to me, Brittany Clinton and Sam.

Before we get started, I recently did a talk in a middle school classroom with 5th and 6th

graders in Harlem.

And it wasn't really a talk.

It was sort of like a talk back.

We all read a book.

We read this book, Ghost Boys, which was very good.

And we had a conversation about it and it reminded me that young people know about the

world around them.

They know.

They have experienced it.

They have thoughts about it.

They have ideas.

They have opinions.

What we have to do is help create an entrance for them.

And what the book did that was so interesting is it was a really great entrance that created

a platform for us to talk about, an issue like police violence and safety and communities.
