Today we'll hear Marvin's 2014 interview with author and professor Ron Sider.

Sider is a three-time graduate of Yale University.

He earned a bachelor's, master's, and

Ph.D. there. Today, he's professor of theology, ministry, and public policy at Palmer Theological

Seminary. Cider is also the founder of Evangelicals for Social Action and the author of many books.

Rich Christians in an Age of hunger is his most

famous title. He's known as one of the nation's leading evangelicals on the political left.

Marvin Alasky is here now to talk about this interview with Ron Seider. Hello, Marvin.

Hello, Jill. Well, Ron Seider may not be a recognizable name to every evangelical, but he's been a person

of influence for a long time.

What made you want to sit down for this interview?

Well, a long time ago, I read his book from 1977, Rich Christians in an Age of Hunger.

And it was a very, very influential book.

Over the years, he's changed somewhat.

He's come out with some new editions of it.

And I was fascinated to read an interview with him where he said that he didn't know a great deal of economics when he wrote the first edition.

He said he's learned considerably more.

He's changed some things.

There was a 20th anniversary edition in which he said explicitly that he favors the democratic political order.

He favors market economies.
