Today we'll hear Marvin's 2011 interview

with Christian author Anne Voskamp.

Anne Voskamp is the author of four New York Times best-selling books,

1,000 gifts, the greatest gift, unwrapping the greatest gift, and the broken way.

Before she became a published author, she had a blog popular with Christian moms.

She lives on a farm in Canada with her husband and now seven kids whom she homeschools.

She's also a spokeswoman for the child advocacy ministry compassion.

Marvin Alasky joins us now to set up this interview with Anne Voskamp.

Hi, Marvin.

Hi, Joe.

Well, Anne Voskamp is very different from a lot of people you interview.

What about her and her work stands out to you? Well, Anne is such a good

writer. I just really enjoy reading her. She's smart. She's also charming. She's had an interesting

life that I think comes out in her vivid writing. What I particularly like about what she writes is that it's not at all prosperity

gospel. We get a lot of that these days, but Anne embraces brokenness. She's willing to write

about suffering. She's willing to teach about Christ on the cross, and that's something we really

need to hear these days. So her work really resonates with all of us in many ways. You did this interview right after

her first book came out. Have you followed her career since then, and if so, are you surprised

that she's continued to be so popular? I've read her other books. I've read The Broken Way,

which I also like. Surprise.
