Hello from Washington. I'm Chuck Todd and this is the Chuck Todd cast. There's a new

docu series on Netflix that examines the tragic death of journalist Danny Casalero.

He was a journalist based here in the Washington, D.C. area.

He started investigating a tech company in the late 80s, but soon ended in a quest to uncover what he thought was a possible international conspiracy involving the US government.

The show is called American Conspiracy, The Octopus Murders, and it follows Zachary Trates and Christian Hansen as they investigate

the Casalero case but soon find themselves revisiting a lot of things including

Ronald Reagan's around country, scandal, and a lot more.

This is a story for what it's worth that when I first got to Washington was sort of always

percolating in the background.

There were a lot of these stories.

BCCI was this weird bank that had a lot of powerful political

figures involved.

It had some, it was sort of always sort of touching this

and it was, there was this, it was sort of always sort of touching this and it was there was this it was the type of story that those of us that were in the campaign political world

were always sort of keeping one eye on we all knew who dandy Casler was, we knew his name well. And then I, I guess, coincidentally,

I am close friends with two of the narrators of this docuaries essentially, Danny's brother, Tony Casailer, and Anne Clank, who dated

Danny Casailero and was close friends with Danny throughout the thing.

So to say that I have a sort of a

personal at least connection to what happened here is sort of more more

observationally than anything else but it's certainly sort of fun for my wife and I to see our two friends on

Netflix helping tell this story and now thanks to Anne Zachary and Christian have agreed to be here

on the podcast so gentlemen gentleman welcome so much for having you were prepped that uh I did have a personal connection to what you guys were doing and speaks very highly
