Okay, have you ever said yes to something when you really should have said no?

This is something I've been more mindful of recently, saying no and standing firm with

it.

But boy oh boy is a difficult.

And why is that?

Why is saying no such a hard thing to do?

I think it comes from our innate ability to care and have compassion.

And I also think it's because you've been conditioned to be agreeable.

But what I'm realizing is that living in the shadow of regret because I said yes instead

of saying no feels horrible, awful.

When we say no to others, we're also saying yes to ourselves.

Now this doesn't apply to everything, but I'll share a story where it could save you

from a lingering hangover of an unrequited no.

When I first started nursing, I was a new kid on the block, which meant being stuck with

a big patient load and getting the last pick of the break I wanted.

In the beginning, I didn't say much because I really wanted to do a good job and impress

everyone.

But after a few weeks, I realized that me saying yes to staying late and coming in early

was becoming a frequent thing.
