Welcome to The Lost Debate, a show for political eclectics. I'm Ravi Gupta and everybody in my life. I'm talking about my mom, my dad, my friends from home, my professional colleagues, podcast listeners, casual acquaintances, strangers, everybody. Everybody in my life appears to have stopped what they're doing

and are just refreshing Twitter for what Elon Musk is going to say next. And in some cases,

what the president and his supporters are going to say next. This is by far, by far, the biggest

political breakup story of our lifetime. I can't think of even a close second here.

Elon Musk and Trump not only are cooling, which was what seemed to be true 24 hours ago,

but seemed to be in a full-on hot war on the internet. And these are two extremely erratic,

temperamental personalities with a ton of power. And so although this is intriguing, it is

certainly entertaining for reasons I'll get to, it has huge consequences for the question of who holds power,

both within the United States and in the world, and for in certain cases, public policy

issues and even national security. So let's do a quick rundown of what's happened here.

Musk today, after Trump posted on Truth Social that he'd fired Elon Musk said, this is what Musk said.

Without me, Trump would have lost the election.

Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate.

Such ingratitude.

Trump responded, quote, the easiest way to save money in our budget, billions and billions of dollars is to terminate Elon's governmental subsidies and contracts. I was always surprised that Biden didn't do it. Musk wrote back in light of the

president's statement about cancellation of my government contract, SpaceX, will begin decommissioning

its dragon spacecraft immediately. The dragon is used to supply the international space station. Must also came back

with, I think this is the most retweeted tweet today. Maybe it will eventually be the most retweeted

tweet in history. Musk said, time to drop the really big bomb. Donald Trump is in the Epstein

files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT, Marcus Post for the future. The truth will come out. Steve Bannon then spoke to the New York Times about Musk. Those two have been having a beef. Bannon said they should initiate a formal investigation of his immigration status because I am of the strong belief that

he is an illegal alien and should be deported from the country immediately.

Musk and Trump were just going back and forth, back and forth.
