Hello listeners in this episode of night time you're going to hear a discussion about a story that can only be described as horrific and I'm going to include some brief but disturbing audio samples as we go. So I suppose take that as you're warning to proceed with caution or perhaps sit this one out if you're sensitive to that sort of thing. The story we're going to be discussing takes us to sagging first nation.

In April of 2017, this small community of about 3,000 people would host an event that would be watched around the world. Specifically, it'll be watched by those who lurk on the internet's darkest spaces seeking videos of gore, death and humanity's other darkest moments.

Then 19 year old Serena McKay's life would come to an end as the result of a vicious, violent and merciless attack committed by two other young women. Some of the most brutal moments would be live streamed to Facebook and from there shared across the internet.

In this episode of night time, I've invited Canadian crime content creator Madeleine Klein to help me understand what happened to Serena and possibly why.

So let's get to it. Tonight, in this episode of night time, I'll be joined by Madeleine Klein to discuss the murder of Serena McKay.

Beyond that broken police tape and alleged fatal assault at that house on Saturday night, possible video of it is now posted to Facebook.

Which appears to show 19 year old Serena McKay being beaten, kicked in the face while barely conscious. She was found dead in this yard the next morning.

We're not showing the video. Chief Derek Henderson wants those at habit to delete it.

I watched a video and yeah, it was very, it was very explicit, it was very brutal.

School principal Claude Gimons says students brought the video to him. He sent it to police.

I'm assuming pretty well, most of the kids thought, you know, because it's out there.

Madeleine Klein, you've been a, you've been a busy girl the last few days. You released a video, you're researching for new projects.
