0:59.0	Dodge City, 1878, tracking the killer.
1:03.0	A little review, the place Dodge City, Kansas,
1:07.0	the time we're going to place you back in October 5, 1878.
1:11.0	The event, the popular nightclub singer, Dora Hand, has been found dead.
1:16.0	All the evidence leads to James Kennedy, the son of a wealthy Texas cattle rancher,
1:21.0	who has ridden out of town on a fast horse with the horseshoe's removed to make it difficult to track.
1:27.0	The Marshall of Dodge City, Charlie Bassett, has put together a posse to track Kennedy,
1:32.0	who has a 10-hour head start.
1:34.0	We know for sure from newspaper accounts that Bassett's posse consisted of wider, bad masters in,
1:40.0	Bill Tillman, and very likely, at least for a while, William Duffy,
1:44.0	who serves as a deputy sheriff in Dodge as well, although there are some conflicting accounts
1:48.0	as to whether or not he rode with the posse.
1:51.0	We also know from biographies, newspaper accounts, letters, and historians,
1:55.0	what the mindset of the posse was, and what their decisions were based upon.
2:00.0	The Ford County Globe reported the inquest in their October 8, 1878 edition.
2:06.0	The inquest took place just after daybreak on October 4, and was presided by Judge Cook.
