The Gospel is the good news of salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ,

but it is only good news to those who hear it.

Every believer is to go with the Gospel.

Today, we study with Scott Pauling what God's word teaches about becoming a more

effective witness for Christ.

Let the redeemed of the Lord say so. That's the word of Psalm 107 and verse number two.

Now, we're studying in Psalm 107 for a definite reason,

because it is one of the great testimony songs of Scripture.

It begins exactly like the previous Psalm, Psalm 106.

Psalm 106 verse 1 says, praise ye the Lord. Oh, give thanks

unto the Lord, for he is good, for his mercy endureth forever. And then Psalm 107, verse 1 begins,

oh, give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good, for his mercy, endureth forever. In reality,

everybody's story is the same story, and it is the story of

the mercy of God that constantly endures. Both of these Psalms are Psalms of great joy and thankfulness.

The tone of them is uplifting. It is not one of depression and talking about how bad everything is and how bleak it is

around you. Instead, it all looks to God and to his goodness and his greatness and his salvation.

That's the way witnessing should be done. Out of a heart of gratitude, in a spirit of joy.

It ought not be witnessing out of duty. It ought to be witnessing out of delight.

Now, as you read through Psalm 107, and I hope you have or I hope you will,

you're going to find that there are stages in Israel's history.

And they go through these cycles, if you will. But at every one of those cycles, there's one thing repeated,

and that is God's mercy in every circumstance. And every believer's testimony is a little different
