I am going to share with you today one of my favorite parables, short stories that I repeat often

if you're in self-coaching society, you've definitely heard this story because

we use it to understand life in so many ways. And I believe it's called the farmer and maybe.

You know, different translations have kind of given different versions of what the title is,

but the title doesn't matter. It is a Taoist

philosophy, which is all about understanding life through the lens of non-judgment. Because I tell you,

a huge source of our stress, a huge source of our suffering is labeling things, right?

Is calling something good or bad, is being so quick to take score of outcomes.

And this story to me just illustrates beautifully another way or a potential other way.

Okay, here goes.

Once upon a time, a farmer had only one horse to plow his fields.

One day the horse ran away, and the neighbours came to express their sympathy saying,

oh, such bad luck.

The farmer simply replied,

Maybe.

A few days later, the horse returned,

bringing with it several wild horses.

The neighbours came by to congratulate the farmer on his good fortune, and he replied once again.

Soon after, the farmer's son tried to ride one of the wild horses and fell, breaking his leg.

The neighbours once again expressed their condolences for the farmer's bad luck.
