Did you enjoy the fight, Marchman? It was a fighty fight.

This is one of my favorite sports moments of the year.

It made me so enthusiastic.

I was so happy.

I think you knew there would be, just because it's baseball,

you knew there would be someone out there to defend Jonathan Papelbon

for doing the dumbest possible thing.

Hey, some people might be under a rock, so we should run down what actually happened here.

So yesterday, the Washington Nationals were playing the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Nationals have endured a tremendous collapse with their manager, Matt Williams,

making some of the dumbest possible moves over the last month.

And so the on-paper best team in the National League is now looking like they might not even

end up at 500. And they've sunk so low that they handed the division to the Mets of all teams.

Yeah, they made the Mets look like the clutch, which is impossible.

So in yesterday's game, Bryce Harper, the pending National League MVP, who's 22 years old and hitting like Ted Williams and is infamous for playing so hard he frequently injures himself,

put his head down after he hit a harmless pop-up.

It was kind of a, God damn it, I got under that one thing,

and jogged down to first.

And when he came back, Jonathan Papelbon, noted lunatic, starts screaming at him.
