0:00.0	In our world, there is so much sorrow, misery, and sadness.
0:12.6	We see indicators all around us that reveal to us that most people are looking for something,
0:18.2	anything, that can bring them true joy. In this study on joy,
0:23.5	Scott Pauley will take us to God's Word and help us discover the source of true, lasting joy.

0:44.9	Today we turn our attention from the Psalms to the Proverbs.
0:48.8	They follow in that same order in our Old Testament scripture, and someone has suggested

0:56.4	place, place of worship, intimacy with God, prayer closet, if you will, into everyday life.
1:03.9	Psalms, you find the Christian on his knees, but in Proverbs you find the Christian on his feet.
1:10.2	Once we learn to walk with God every day, then
1:13.7	that has to be worked out in everyday life. And so Proverbs really deals with every aspect of
1:20.2	everyday life. It is an intensely practical book. It's also a book that references joy.
1:29.4	And I want to bring you to one of those today in two different references. Proverbs chapter 12 and verse number 20 and Proverbs chapter 15 and
1:36.5	verse number 23. Now, you'll remember that most of the proverbs are stand-alone, short, succinct
1:43.3	sayings. They are sentence sermons. short, succinct sayings.
1:46.2	They are sentence sermons.
1:51.0	Perhaps some of our congregations would like to hear one of those every now and then, just a sentence sermon.
1:54.5	A lot of truth can be packed into a very few words.
1:59.0	But these two verses, you should connect in your Bible and in your thinking.
2:02.4	Proverbs chapter 12 and verse number 20 says this,
