In our world, there is so much sorrow, misery, and sadness.

We see indicators all around us that reveal to us that most people are looking for something,

anything, that can bring them true joy. In this study on joy,

Today we turn our attention from the Psalms to the Proverbs.

They follow in that same order in our Old Testament scripture, and someone has suggested

place, place of worship, intimacy with God, prayer closet, if you will, into everyday life.

Psalms, you find the Christian on his knees, but in Proverbs you find the Christian on his feet.

Once we learn to walk with God every day, then

that has to be worked out in everyday life. And so Proverbs really deals with every aspect of

everyday life. It is an intensely practical book. It's also a book that references joy.

And I want to bring you to one of those today in two different references. Proverbs chapter 12 and verse number 20 and Proverbs chapter 15 and

verse number 23. Now, you'll remember that most of the proverbs are stand-alone, short, succinct

sayings. They are sentence sermons. short, succinct sayings.

Perhaps some of our congregations would like to hear one of those every now and then, just a sentence sermon.
