This episode is for Armano, Arrow and Alicio Mancini who wanted to hear the story of Benjamin

Franklin, especially his kite key and lightning experiment.

Hey guys, this one's for you.

Benjamin Franklin's kite key and lightning experiment is probably the first thing that

comes to mind when we hear the name of this famous American.

That hair raising experiment is not where we're going to start our story though.

First we're going to draw our historical backdrop so we can put Benjamin Franklin in his

natural setting and in the correct cultural surroundings.

Benjamin Franklin was born on January 17th, 1706 in Boston, Massachusetts.

He was the 10th of 17 children in his family.

Not all of them made it to adulthood as was very common in those days.

These were the years of American history when the American colonies were still firmly under

the hand of the British Empire and as part of the largest, most powerful empire that

had ever ruled the earth, the colonists were expected to live by the British laws and

pay the British taxes and in return they had the protection and the provision of the

British government.

That is how the colonies worked although they were for the most part happy British citizens,

the colonists had been established in America long enough to realize that they were not
