Benjamin Franklin was born on January 17th, 1706 in Boston, Massachusetts.

He was the 10th of 17 children in his family.

Not all of them made it to adulthood as was very common in those days.

These were the years of American history when the American colonies were still firmly under

the hand of the British Empire and as part of the largest, most powerful empire that
