All right, we are looking at Romans chapter 12 today.

And I just want to say that this is a passage that is love the way it's worded. The apostle Paul says we as believers are to outdo

one another in showing honor. That's worded very interestingly. it sounds almost like a competition and I don't think he

necessarily had a competitive sort of spirit in mind when he says it this way but he

basically is wanting us to understand.

We all should be striving to do the very best

in this thing called honoring.

Now what does that mean?

We think of an honor as some sort of award or reward that a person

gets. I remember one time a strange situation happened where someone had broken into the home where we were living at the time

and my kids were alone at home at the time and when the whole thing was all said and done

They were honored by the local sheriff's department for the way in which they

handled that.

You know, that's what we think of when we think of an honor, maybe an Eagle Scout

award that a Boy Scout gets or some Girl Scout equivalent, maybe some kind of a trophy or something like that.

That qualifies as an honor of sorts.

But that's not exactly what the Apostle Paul is speaking about here.

When he says we as believers in Christ are to honor one another, show honor to one another,
