This is Marianne Sullivan.

And today is a hen report episode, which is where rather than an interview, we report

on the latest news about animals, animal rights, veganism, this and that,

sometimes things that have nothing to do with anything. And of course, since this episode is planned

without a feature guest, once again, we actually do have a guest. We seem to be doing really

well, not having guests by constantly booking them. Our regular correspondent,

Michael Dorf, will be joining us briefly later to discuss his experiences at the recent

Vegan Summerfest, which is a longstanding vegan conference that has been going on for so many

years and which somehow we have never managed to attend.

If you're the same, you will get to vicariously attend through Michael.

And I just, I love any opportunity to catch up with Michael and hear about what he's doing

and thinking about and eating and where he's not drinking caffeine, things like that. So I'm excited. Caffeine becomes a major part of this interview. Yeah, he actually gave three talks at Vegan Summerfest. So it's a huge conference. I mean, there are so many speakers, and you will have heard of a lot of them. And his talks were more on the animal right side than the vegan nutrition side,

but it does cover all of those things. I don't know why I've never been to it. It is kind of,

well, it's kind of in the middle of nowhere. But, you know, like every place is in the middle

of some nowhere. And it's not that far from me. It's on the East Coast. It's in Pennsylvania.

Rural Pennsylvania. So not exactly on the coast, but in the east. I saw there's a new tote bag that's going around that I've been seeing around here that says where the hell is Rochester. It's very funny. I think it's funny. Anyway, you're just making me think everyone's in the middle of nowhere. Everyone's in the middle of somewhere. Deep thoughts.

I still want that on the subject of tote pegs. I still want that tote bag, which I never managed to get from that store in Portland, which is no longer exists. Food fight. Who the fuck would eat a lamb?

I'm sure we can get that for you. I will personally look for it. It just says it all, doesn't it? It sure does. Who the fuck would eat a lamb? I love that. Well, we did not eat lambs recently when we... Is that like what we're going to announce every week what animals we did not eat this week? That would be a very one-note podcast. But we internationally traveled because we lived very close to Canada. And so we went to see this play, my fair lady, at this incredible theater festival called the Shaw Festival.
